Imagine using an interface like Minority Report, where personalization options appear before your eyes while you write on a simple 2D UI/UX. Swipe right to target prospects will look like a “hot or not” game. Writing campaigns will be quick, and decision-makers will replace human sales communication with AI-purchasing bots, rendering real-time transactions automatic at the speed of high-frequency stock trading.
As technology advances, human salespeople's role may become less common. The trend towards Software as a Service (SaaS) will likely lead to most industries offering SaaS options. However, this does not mean that AI will entirely replace salespeople. Instead, the number of salespeople in the high-tech industry may paradoxically increase significantly, from 10 million to potentially 50 or even 100 million.
This is due to the wide-ranging impact of technology on all sectors, leading to billions of small businesses (up from 400 million today) and customers being represented online in the Metaverse. Future salespeople will act as trusted digital advisors and be further down the sales funnel. AI may replace the Sales Development Representative (SDR) role on the marketplace's buy-and-sell side.
Meetings between people may only occur in cyberspace once the decision to collaborate has been made.
These changes are predicted to occur by 2035, but the rapid pace of AI innovation could see them happening sooner, with significant milestones possibly achieved by 2025. In the meantime, there will be a semi-automated sales augmentation of the human era until we reach the Singularity and the bold future predicted by Tech-Powered Sales.
Despite the changing landscape of sales, there is still a need for a power user manual on "opening" - the initial stage of the sales process. This manual would guide Justin Michael Method (JMM) practitioners and acolytes, similar to something as profound as Sandler, but exclusively to solve the “opening” problem. There is so much noise now that automating your way into strong top-funnel creation is impossible. The world’s regulators have precluded our ability to reach our targets by volume.
Blast as you may, 1,000 emails or calls daily; it’s insufficient to build a high-quality pipeline consistently.

This seems like an impossible puzzle to crack, but I have indeed broken it.

As the world moves towards an even more incredible Cambrian Explosion of AI-enabled tech, everything will be interconnected, and sales will fundamentally change forever. However, with the Singularity approaching, I predict 50 million technology sellers who are more strategic and expert in their products. Not job loss. Analysts keep predicting the death and erosion of the sales force, but as we saw in the First to Third Industrial revolutions, the Fourth will create far more roles than it can destroy. History must repeat.
The future Seller Cyborgs (Salesborgs) will look much more like the Solutions Consultants or SEs - Sales Engineers of today, with a technical curiosity that makes them trusted advisors on how their solutions deliver value.
Budget cuts can be misleading, but Andreessen's predictions on Software “eating the world” are worth considering. Millions more SDRs will be needed to fulfill the coming AI revolution.
